Care After the Mend

• Turn inside-out to wash; ideally placing garment in a mesh bag for washing.

• Cold water, gentle detergent, no bleach.

• Air-dry flat or hang; avoid the dryer when possible.

• Iron with a press cloth; avoid direct heat on any seed beads, or gold/silver-leaf details.

• Keep the thread that we send with your repair.

If you snag your repair

Don't panic.  We got you. 

Remove the garment carefully, holding the snag/thread in place with your thumb and index finger so it doesn't unravel.   Do not cut any threads.   Take a picture of the situation and email it to hello@surplusatx.com   

Find the end of the thread and lightly tape it to the garment. Find the extra repair thread that we sent home with the garment.   It's going to be ok.

Once we get an idea of the situation, we'll schedule a 5 minute call and walk you through the fix.

Guarantee

If a mend fails under normal wear within a year, we’ll reinforce it once at no cost. Natural fabric fatigue elsewhere is not a failure of the mend.
