Founder & Creative Director

Stephanie got her start fixing things living in Colorado and spending as many days as possible running, skiing, and trekking up & down mountains.  Repairs consisted of duct tape & dental floss on the fly, but a deep respect and love of the outdoors & repair stuck.

She spent her twenties busting her chops in NYC working with large global brands developing experiential campaigns to inspire the hearts and minds of highly targeted audiences.  NYC was fun, fast, fabulous and a bit furious, so Austin & the outdoors called.

In a "universe working in weird ways" moment, Stephanie arrived in Austin and immediately managed a winning city council campaign for Austin City Council Member Betty Dunkerley.  This led to a two year stint assisting with a large economic development initiative geared to attracting Creatives and Tech to Austin.

Stephanie is forever grateful to Betty, who taught her ironclad back of the envelope financials, the concept of access (education, capital, healthcare, place, dignity) and Black Jack.

Returning to her roots, for the past 20 years Stephanie has worked with large technical brands in the Outdoor Industry, like Osprey, Prana & Salomon Footwear.  Here, she developed a love for specialty retail and your 'local shop'. She is forever grateful for the opportunity to work, play and adventure in nature all over the world with the best of the best.

In 2025, Stephanie launched SurplusATX with the hope of inspiring people to fix things and work like nature.
