Our Repair Guarantee

Handmade, One of One

Every Surplus repair is done by hand and adapted to your garment, its material, the location and condition of the damage, and how the piece will be worn.

Handmade variation is part of the work; quality and structural integrity are not. Stitch placement, thread color, patch shape, texture, and other details may vary slightly from photographs, samples, or digital mockups. These variations are what make each repair one of one.

You Approve It Before We Stitch

Nothing is repaired without your approval.

Once we receive and inspect your garment, we confirm the repair plan, materials, and final price before beginning. If the garment’s condition requires a change in scope, treatment, or price, we contact you for approval first.

Thread and Materials

Standard thread and compatible repair materials are included in the approved repair price unless otherwise stated.

We select materials appropriate for the garment and repair. Depending on the design, these may include cotton, linen, silk, metallic, reclaimed, or other compatible threads and patch materials. Not every treatment is suitable for every garment, and we will let you know if another approach will produce a better or more durable result.

Our One-Year Reinforcement Guarantee

SurplusATX guarantees the workmanship of the repaired area for one year under normal wear.

If the stitching or reinforcement of the completed repair fails within one year, we will reinforce that repaired area once at no additional labor charge.

The guarantee does not cover:

* New or unrelated damage
* Continued fabric fatigue outside the repaired area
* Damage caused by misuse or abnormal wear
* Improper washing, drying, or storage
* Alterations or repairs performed by another provider
* Damage to areas of the garment that were not part of the original repair

Repair can extend the life of a garment, but it cannot stop aging fabric from developing new damage elsewhere.

Completed Repairs Are Final

Because every repair is custom work performed directly on your garment, completed repairs cannot be returned or refunded.

Visible mending is intentionally visible, and the final result will reflect the selections and creative direction you approved. Some aesthetic judgment is inherent in handwork, particularly in stitch placement, color balance, and the way a design responds to an irregular area of damage.

If Something Doesn’t Feel Right

We want you to be happy with the work.

If you believe the completed repair differs materially from the approved repair plan, or if there is a workmanship issue, contact us promptly with photographs and a description of the concern. We will review it with you and make a reasonable effort to resolve the issue.

This may include reinforcement or an appropriate adjustment when possible. It does not include redesigning an approved repair because of a change in personal preference.

Garment Condition

Garments must arrive clean and securely packed.

We may pause or decline a repair if a garment arrives in a condition that cannot be handled or repaired safely. Existing fabric weakness, previous alterations, hidden damage, stains, shrinkage, or deterioration may affect what is possible and how the finished repair performs.

Timing and Shipping

Most standard repairs are completed within 2–3 weeks after the garment arrives and the final repair plan is approved.

Tracked two-way shipping is included. Turnaround may be extended for custom work, extensive damage, multiple repair areas, material sourcing, or delays in customer approval.
